Not even a student association or the federation of administrative staff of higher education (ODPTE) was willing to be invited by the majority during the hearing of bodies in the competent Committee of the Parliament, which caused strong reactions from the opposition.
After the reading of the list of bodies invited to the Committee by the president Christos Kella, the special buyer of the New Left, Meropi Tzoufi, intervened, pointing out that “you have not invited any students, parents and workers at the HEIs”.
“Choose one, the students must be represented” Afroditi Ktena stressed from the KKE side, while Pavlos Polakis asked for the call of the Medical Students’ Association.
“It is crucial to invite people from the Universities” said the SYRIZA rapporteur, Dionysis Kalamatianos, with M. Tzoufi coming back and underlining that the coalition only invites “employers”.
In the face of the reactions, the President of the Commission reserved himself to then announce the final list.
“I have 20 student clubs”
In the second year, Mr. Kellas announced the summoning of a representative of ODPTTE, ignoring the requests of the minority for the summoning of at least one student association, with the claim that about 20 have been proposed by the opposition parties student associations.
In the end, after the insistence of the minority, the president only accepted the call of the Medical Students’ Association of Athens, who are affected by the provisions of the bill.
