Makokou: Colette Métimbé Fadi at the heart of the Ivindo Iron company – AGP

MAYIBOUTH 2 (north-east), February 27, 2024, (AGP) – The high personal representative of the President of the Transition, Colette Métimbé Fadi, visited on Monday the site of the Ivindo Iron company, responsible for exploiting Belinga iron ore .She took this opportunity to immerse herself in the working conditions of the employees, before the upcoming arrival of the Head of State, Brigadier General, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.

In addition to this visit to Vidéo Iron, the president’s high personal representative subsequently went to the Mayibouth village to collect the concerns of the populations. “I am here today in Mayibouth because the iron deposit is being exploited here. And since there are residents, there are always small problems. I’m here to listen to you,” she said.

Speaking, the notables noted a certain number of complaints. This concerns in particular the exploitation of the Minkebe gold mine, the results of which would not be profitable for them. In fact, the Minkébé permit which is located in Haut-Ntem is only accessible via Ogooué-Ivindo. They denounced, among other things, the fact that the 20% of mining taxes will be used exclusively for the community development of the populations of Woleu-Ntem, according to the law.

This does not benefit the populations of the Mvady district and the Mayibouth villages which serve as an access route to the Minkébé gold permit. The people want the authorities to repair this injustice. Furthermore, the populations also spoke out against the violation of the borders between the Iyeze and Liboumba cantons by the Kota community.

Likewise, they want the release of their children unjustly incarcerated by the fallen regime, for artisanal gold mining in the Minkébé area, for more than three years in the central prison of Libreville.

During this visit, Ms. Métimbé Fadi raised awareness among economic operators and the populations of the M’vady district on the upcoming arrival, in the province of Ogooué-Ivindo, of the President of the Republic, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.
