Baller League Final Moved to Düsseldorf After Cologne Stadium Rejections

In the “Baller League” the teams are approaching the final. But where should it take place? According to a report, the organizers’ actual wish did not come true.

However, the Kölner Sportstätten GmbH, which is behind the stadium, rejected this. A spokesman spoke to the newspaper about “scheduling difficulties”. As the paper claims to have learned, the lawn in Müngersdorf also played a role.

Only cancellations from Cologne stadiums for “Baller League”

Accordingly, Sportstätten GmbH apparently feared that it could be damaged by the final round of the event league so shortly before the men’s European Football Championship, in which four games are to be played in Cologne in the summer. The two smaller stadiums in Cologne, the Südstadion and the Höhenberg Sportpark, also had no capacity for the Podolski and Hummels event league, according to Sportstätten GmbH in the report.

And the Lanxess Arena, where the Kölner Haie play their ice hockey games, was already fully booked. So now Düsseldorf: The organizers of the “Baller League” announced on Tuesday that they had chosen the “PSD Bank Dome”, which can accommodate around 15,000 spectators, as a new location.

Admission will begin there on April 8th at 4:30 p.m. The prices for cards in the “PSD Bank Dome” are between 20 and 30 euros. The previous games take place in Cologne’s “Motorworld” every Monday.

The “Baller League” is played twice on a small pitch in a six-on-six model for 15 minutes each. The league consists of 12 teams. The games will be streamed on Joyn. They can also be seen on ProSiebenMaxx on Mondays at 8:15 p.m. and for free on YouTube.
