/ world today news/ “Every government, including the official one, is obliged to provide its people with the cheapest supplies of raw materials, gas and oil!” says Maya Manolova in a post on her Facebook page, where she also publishes Gazprom’s advance invoice for deliveries for July 2022
She adds that unlike the current government, which is making efforts in this direction, the government of Kiril Petkov and Asen Vasilev has done the exact opposite. Manolova gives the example of all Bulgaria’s neighbors who pay Gazprom under the new payment mechanism, as a result of which Gazprom fulfills its supply contracts, which also happens to companies from Germany, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria and Slovenia. According to her, despite the speculations of the quadruple coalition government, Gazprom supplies to Bulgaria have been stopped, with Bulgargaz refusing to pay under the new mechanism, although pricing, invoicing and payment under this mechanism continue to be in dollars.
Maya Manolova, leader of Bulgaria stood up showed yesterday in the program “120 minutes” on bTV, the advance invoice sent by Gazprom for the delivery in July 2022. It can be seen from the document that the price of Russian gas under the contract, which is not being implemented, is 84.13 dollars per megawatt hour. This is a much lower price than already purchased for the same period at a price of 110 euros. Bulgaria has paid 30% more expensive gas than Gazprom, but purchased through intermediary companies such as Wintershall – a subsidiary of the Swiss subsidiary of Gazprom.
In her Facebook profile, Maya Manolova emphasizes that Gazprom’s invoice clearly shows that Gazprom is ready to fulfill its contract with Bulgargaz by supplying our country with natural gas at the contracted price. According to her, Gazprom is probably preparing for arbitration due to the suspension of payments by Bulgargaz in April this year and the “take or pay” clause in the contract. Manolova calls on the government to make an effort to get Bulgaria out of the situation in which it was placed by the government of the quadruple coalition, by starting negotiations with the Russian supplier and thus avoiding any court and arbitration cases, as well as to avoid fines. According to Maya Manolova, this way Bulgaria will have the opportunity to take all the unreceived quantities of gas from April 27 during the upcoming autumn-winter season.
“Experts of Stand Up, Bulgaria calculate that if all quantities of Azeri gas are received at the contract price as of July 1, and the remaining necessary quantities are purchased directly from Gazprom, instead of from Gazprom’s intermediaries, then the regulated price of gas for Bulgaria for July, instead of BGN 186.47 per megawatt hour, it would be approximately BGN 134 per megawatt hour. For August, instead of BGN 297.89, the price would have been around BGN 217, and for September, instead of BGN 353.86, the price would have been BGN 247. For the three months, the total difference in the indicated prices is approximately BGN 580 million, which the difference is paid by every single Bulgarian citizen and raises inflation to unprecedented levels,” says Maya Manolova’s Facebook page.
