“Blurred” landscape for Putin’s visit to Turkey – 2024-02-28 07:48:13

Assurances regarding the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Turkeygives Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expressing his belief that “it will not be delayed”, as he characteristically said.

It is noted that earlier today Putin and Erdogan had a telephone conversation, on the occasion of the Turkish president’s birthday.

Speaking to journalists, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said: “In a telephone conversation we had on Monday, he told me that the visit will not be delayed. He thanked Turkey for its position on international platforms and expressed his satisfaction with our bilateral relationship.”

On Putin’s alleged visit to Ankara, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was also put forward, saying, “there is no time before the elections. The schedule is still quite tight for the president and Mr. Erdogan is also busy.”

It is noted that the presidential elections in Russia are scheduled for March 15-17. If there is no winner (at least half of the votes are required), a second round will be held on April 7th.
