In contrast, for peacocks, flight has evolved as a secondary method of navigation, with their primary means of locomotion being the feet.

Peacocks often start flying while running and jumping several times to build momentum before finally launching their bodies.

By flapping their wings as hard as they can, they can reach a height of about 2.5 meters, about twice their body height. However, the weight and body design of peacocks does not allow them to stay in the air for long.

Although peacocks can gain some distance by launching higher branches, the average peacock will not fly a distance greater than about 1 km.
