Woman Struck in Head with Baseball Bat in Manhattan – Random Violence on the Rise in NYC

A woman was hit in the head with a baseball bat while walking on a sidewalk in Manhattan (NYC).

The 25-year-old victim was walking on 7th Avenue near W. 23rd St. in Chelsea when a man approached her around 10:05 p.m. on February 8, the New York police reported this Sunday by publishing a photo of the suspect.

The attacker grabbed a baseball bat and hit her in the head before running away. Apparently it was a “random” crime, because the victim did not know the suspect. The woman was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital to be treated for a cut and bruise on her head, he said. Daily News.

No arrests have been made or suspects identified. Anyone with information should call at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) and in Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Also through the page crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or by text message to 274637 (CRIMES), followed by TIP577. All communications are strictly confidential.

“Random” violence is constant in New York, mostly in streets, parks, buses and the New York Subway. This month two people died after being hit by apparent “stray bullets” at stations in the Bronx. A Brazilian tourist was also shot in the middle of an alleged robbery at a store in Times Square and another visitor from that country was stabbed in Queens.
