“Qualcomm Unveils AI Hub with 75+ Models for Seamless Integration into Apps”

Qualcomm, the US-based chip giant, made waves at the MWC 2024 expo in Barcelona, Spain, by unveiling its groundbreaking AI Hub. This hub is a game-changer for developers, as it supports over 75 AI models that can be seamlessly integrated into apps and services on devices powered by Snapdragon processors.

The Qualcomm AI Hub boasts a vast library of pre-optimized AI models, including Baichuan 7B, ControlNet, Stable Diffusion, and Whisper. These models are specifically designed to perform exceptionally well on devices locally, taking full advantage of the AI accelerators within the Qualcomm AI Engine (CPU, GPU, and NPU). The result? Four times faster inferencing, faster app development, higher performance, improved optimization, and lower costs.

Developers can easily access these optimized AI models on platforms such as GitHub, Hugging Face, and the Qualcomm AI Hub itself. Furthermore, Qualcomm plans to expand support for more AI models on various operating systems and platforms in the future. Developers can sign up today to run AI models on the cloud or on devices using Qualcomm processors.

One of the highlights of Qualcomm’s showcase was the demonstration of the Large Language and Vision Assistant (LLaVA) LLM on an Android smartphone. This LLM boasts an impressive 7+ billion parameters and can accept multiple input types, including images and text. It can generate multi-turn conversations with an AI assistant about images, all while maintaining enhanced privacy and reliability.

Another noteworthy demonstration was the Low Rank Adaptation (LoRA) LLM running on an Android smartphone. By combining Stable Diffusion with LoRA, users can create high-quality images with text prompts. They have the freedom to input their personal or artistic preferences to achieve their desired results. Additionally, Qualcomm showcased a 7B+ parameter LLM running on a Windows PC that accepts text and audio inputs.

Qualcomm’s commitment to AI integration extended beyond smartphones and PCs. The company showcased AI running natively on various devices, including the HONOR Magic 6 Pro, OPPO X7 Ultra, and Xiaomi 14 Pro. These devices utilized AI to power features such as an AI-powered calendar, image object eraser, and AI-generated image expansion.

Notably, Qualcomm demonstrated the impressive capabilities of its Snapdragon Digital Chassis Platform for connected cars. This platform harnesses AI and Generative AI to provide personalized experiences to drivers and passengers in a powerful, efficient, safe, and reliable manner. At the MWC 2024 booth, Qualcomm also unveiled the Humane AI Pin, a connected mobile device powered by a Snapdragon processor. This device offers a unique, screen-less way to experience AI and access information.

In addition to its advancements in consumer devices, Qualcomm showcased its contributions to improving connectivity and telecom infrastructure. The company introduced the Snapdragon X80 Modem-RF System, which utilizes a second-generation 5G AI processor to enhance cellular network coverage, latency, performance, and power efficiency. Furthermore, Qualcomm unveiled the FastConnect 7900 Mobile Connectivity System, the world’s first AI-optimized Wi-Fi 7 system. This system sets a new standard for adaptable, high-performance, low-latency, and low-power wireless connectivity.

To simplify tasks for cellular network operators, Qualcomm presented three innovative technologies. The Generative AI assistant for Radio Access Network (RAN) streamlines network and slice management tasks for engineers. The AI-based Open RAN application (rApp) reduces power consumption during network management. Lastly, Qualcomm showcased its AI-based 5G network slice lifecycle management suite, which further enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of 5G networks.

Qualcomm’s unveiling of the AI Hub and its impressive range of AI models marks a significant milestone in the integration of AI into everyday devices. With seamless integration, developers can harness the power of AI to create faster, more optimized apps and services. Qualcomm’s commitment to advancing AI technology extends beyond smartphones and PCs, as demonstrated by its contributions to connected cars, consumer IoT, and telecom infrastructure. As the AI landscape continues to evolve, Qualcomm remains at the forefront, driving innovation and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
