HERNING – Swedish soccer midfielder Kristoffer Olsson was hospitalized due to an acute stroke after he suddenly lost consciousness at home. This was announced today by his Danish club FC Midtjylland.

The 28-year-old international is connected to a ventilator at a hospital in Aarhus, where doctors are working to establish his diagnosis and the correct treatment.

Midtjylland said on its website that it was “forced” to release information about Olsson’s health due to “increasing speculation” regarding his absence from the squad. “Olsson suffered a sudden brain event that was not caused by any self-harm or external factors,” said the club. Olsson is in the hospital surrounded by his immediate family and members of the implementation team.

The European under-21 champion from Prague in 2015 played for the Swedish senior national team in 47 matches, most recently against Estonia in November. Olsson has been working in Midtjylland for the second time in his career since 2022, he also played for Anderlecht, Krasnodar, AIK Stockholm and Arsenal.
