Vietnam is a favorite tourist destination for Chinese tourists in early 2024

(PLO) – The number of Chinese tourists interested in traveling to Vietnam in 2024 has reached 95% compared to 2020.

On February 27, online travel platform Agoda said that the demand for mainland Chinese tourists traveling to Vietnam is showing signs of recovery (based on searches during the Lunar New Year period in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024).

Search volume from China to Vietnam during the Lunar New Year almost returned to pre-pandemic levels. Chinese tourists’ interest in traveling to Vietnam in 2024 will reach 95% compared to 2020 (the time before travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic).

According to statistics from the National Tourism Administration, Chinese tourists were Vietnam’s largest source of tourism revenue in 2019, accounting for nearly 1/3 of the total number of visitors to our country.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Director of Agoda in Vietnam, said that this year’s Tet search data nearly reached pre-pandemic levels, which is a positive sign for Vietnam’s tourism industry. Besides, Vietnam has also succeeded in attracting tourists from new markets such as India and Korea after reopening thanks to favorable visa policies.

In 2024, Vietnam’s tourism picture sees some slight changes when Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Nha Trang, Da Nang and Phu Quoc pearl island enter the top 5 choices of Chinese tourists. The top 5 in 2020 are Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Hanoi, Da Nang and Phan Thiet.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam shared: “We are very happy to see many Chinese tourists interested in Vietnam again. I believe that a diverse selection of destinations along with the warm hospitality of the people will conquer international tourists.”
