Chelsea have targeted Jules Koundé with the aim of recruiting him during the next summer transfer window. Representatives of the English club were present during the match between Naples and Barcelona, in the round of 16 of the Champions League, to observe the French defender, according to information from ‘Hitc football’.
However, despite this stated interest, Koundé does not seem to have any intention of leaving Barça at the moment. Chelsea had already shown keen interest in the French defender in the summer of 2022, competing with Barcelona for his services. Although the English club offered more attractive financial terms, the player ultimately opted to join the Catalan side, thwarting Chelsea’s attempts to sign him.
The French defender was transferred to Barcelona for an initial fee of 50 million euros, with variables amounting to a further 12 million, and a release clause set at 1 billion euros. Chelsea’s interest in Koundé is intensifying due to the possible departure of Thiago Silva, whose contract will not be renewed according to reports in England.
