/ world today news/ A literary collection with works of 66 Bulgarian authors from three continents has been published
The collection is called “Cherga Pastrotsvetna” and its Sofia premiere will be on May 15, 2016, Sunday, at 6 p.m. at the Peroto Literary Club in the National Palace of Culture. The book will be presented by Prof. Plamen Pavlov and the editor Mariana Hristova. Cover artist and moderator of the event is Katya Donkova. The pre-press preparation is the work of Siya Karagyozova, who unfortunately did not wait to see this premiere. The book was printed by Simolini publishing house. The organizer of the premiere is the “Cherga Pastrotsvetna” donation project.
Here is what a member of the donation project team has to say about the endeavor that led to the creation of this book:
“Isn’t that the point of everything we do in this life? Let’s leave our deeds behind. It is wonderful that in the last days of her life, Sia found it important to deal with the pre-press preparation of “Cherga sharena”. This means that for her the book was worth her time. Angel (pseudonym Purko) also found the strength to agree to his publication and become part of the book in the last months of his life. I think there is not and cannot be a greater appreciation, if not for the book, then for the idea behind it. For me, this idea is Common Cause. When was the last time you heard of a hundred Bulgarians doing something together on a voluntary basis? Well, just for the idea. “Cherga pastrotsvetna” is for me an example that Bulgarians are still capable of believing in goodness.”

Literary club “Peroto”
All the authors whose works were included in the collection and who have the opportunity to come to the Peroto Club in the National Palace of Culture on May 15 are invited to the premiere of “Cherga Pastrotsvetna” in Sofia. The members of the Facebook group “Literary revelations” (www.facebook.com/groups/598540723579996/) who participated all year long in nominating and evaluating short stories and poems by various authors, are also invited. Of course, all admirers of Bulgarian literature who wish to come.
MORE ABOUT THE BOOK
In the literary “queue” woven by 66 Bulgarian authors from different cities and countries around the world, 100 works were collected together, published for 50 weeks in a special literary column (www.eurochicago.com/otkroveniya/) of the Chicago-based Bulgarian emigrant publication www.Eurochicago.com. All works from the literary section published in the issue in 2015 have been nominated and evaluated for publication by other authors and readers.
The collection, which collected all these works, is published thanks to the selfless help of ordinary Bulgarians in the USA, who love Bulgarian literature. Thanks to these Bulgarian emigrants, some of whom did not even want us to announce their names, not only was the creation of “Cherga Pastrotsvetna” paid for, but the book will also be distributed free of charge.
MORE ABOUT THE AUTHORS
The stories and poems brought together in this book explore the imagination, anxieties, irony and laughter of various idiosyncratic pens. To emerging and established authors. To Bulgarians from various parts of the country and various parts of the world, whose connecting threads with the Fatherland are painfully alive. It looks at the sadness of the emigrants, the parents left far away, the deserted houses, the anguish of the survivors in the homeland, the social ills, the spiritual searches, the political ironies of past and present “Big Brothers”, and of course the eternal theme of people’s desire to love and be loved. The Bulgarian yesterday and today is looked at in some way.
The literary geography of the collection contains works by authors living in Bulgaria, USA, Germany, Greece, Spain, Great Britain, New Zealand, etc. 50 stories and 50 poems have woven together an annual “colorful carpet” of words, the threads of which we hope will pass not only through the eyes, but also through the hearts of the readers who opened the book.
MORE PERFORMANCES
Copies of “Cherga Pastrotsvetna” will also be taken to the XII World Meeting of the Bulgarian Media, which will be held in Prague, Czech Republic this year. Representatives of Bulgarian media in different countries of the world will have the opportunity to see this literary collection and understand how it was created. The book is also planned to have its premiere in Chicago.
