Ubisoft Unveils New Content for Rainbow Six Siege: No Sequel Planned, Game Manager Says

On Saturday, Ubisoft unveiled new content for Rainbow Six Siege. The shooter is in its ninth year, and the support shows no signs of slowing down. This also seems to continue for at least the next couple of years, as the developer is not interested in any sequels.

It was game manager Alexander Karpazis who addressed the question of a new Rainbow Six Siege at the weekend (via PC Gamer). Not only does he want to continue with the game from 2015, but he believes that upgrading – for example with a new game engine – could be a big mistake.

– I don’t want to name names, but you see other games that tried sequels and completely failed because they have to recreate every single thing that they did in the first game, Karpazis said and continued:

– It can be really frustrating, really expensive and in the end you don’t even get anything good out of it. If you know what you have from the beginning and you build on it, that’s where you’ll find success.

Siege has certainly changed a lot in the last eight years, with both map changes and adjustments to the shooting feel. However, the underlying game engine – Ubisoft Anvil – has remained the same. Karpazis calls Anvil one of the best engines on the market and believes it is the key to Siege’s continued success.

– We know that this is a game that can keep going forever and ever, with the people and the talent and the tools that we have today.
