Türkiye’s fifth generation fighter aircraft, Kaan, officially made its maiden flight. This aircraft is produced locally with engine supplies from General Electric (GE). This fighter jet is capable of reaching a maximum speed of Mach 1.8 or around 2,222 km per hour. Following are the complete specifications.
The Kaan fighter aircraft has capabilities stealth This stealth alias was developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries with the assistance of British BAE Systems, as well as engine supplies from GE. The aircraft was built by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s government because Turkey was ‘kicked out’ of the F-35 fighter aircraft project led by the United States.
In terms of dimensions, this single and double seat Kaan fighter jet has a length of 21 meters, a wingspan of 14 meters and a height of 6 meters. The maximum takeoff weight of the aircraft is approximately 27,215 kg. The aircraft is claimed to be able to cover a distance of more than 2,000 km.

Kaan uses a General Electric F110-GE-129 Turbofan engine which has a thrust of 76.31 kN (17,155 lbf) thrust per dry, 131 kN (29,000 lbf) with afterburner. This aircraft engine is claimed to be able to reach a maximum speed of Mach 1.8 and take the aircraft to a maximum height of 17,000 meters.
One of the most sophisticated features in fifth generation aircraft like the Kaan is the electronic features, aka avionics. Kaan is equipped with Advanced Navigation Features (ICNI), Integrated Electro-Optical Systems (IEOS) Infrared Search and Track (IRST), Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS) etc.), Advanced Cockpit, Human Machine Interface.
Kaan will also get advanced AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar technology. This radar is capable of detecting movement, tracking enemy aircraft, both land and sea targets, and can also control guided missiles. This radar is so sophisticated that only the US, UK, France, Sweden and Israel can make it.
Another important feature in Kaan is the stealth feature. The body of this aircraft is designed so that it can absorb enemy aircraft radar waves. Apart from that, the aircraft body is also equipped with a special coating which makes it undetectable from enemy aircraft radars.
In terms of weapons, Kaan can carry many sophisticated and deadly armaments. Such as BVR and BVRAAM air-to-air missiles, Kuzgun, Akbaba, and MBDA Spear 3 air-to-surface missiles. Can also carry various bombs, from the HGK, KGK, SARB, NEB, and Aselsan series.
