President López Obrador accuses YouTube of censorship and defends freedom of speech

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador claimed that YouTube lowered its morning conference on Thursday, February 22, accusing the platform of an “arrogant and authoritarian” attitude.

Through a publication on telephone number of The New York Times journalist, Natalie Kitroeff, included in a letter in which she questioned alleged financial support from organized crime to people close to the 4T leader.

López Obrador justified his act the next day, pointing out that the presidential investiture and the dignity of the Mexican people took precedence over any alleged lack of respect.

Given López Obrador’s controversy with the newspaper, YouTube decided to eliminate the morning conference for violating community standards.

The Mexican president recalled in his publication that his “fight for transformation” began by distributing leaflets “and not only without support, but against the means of manipulation of the oligarchy.”

“Neither the power mafia nor the journalism underworld will be able to silence us,” said López Obrador, criticizing an attempt at censorship by eliminating the video in which he disseminated the journalist’s personal information.

Finally, López Obrador cited a paragraph from Don Quixote de la Mancha, a novel by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, in which the Spanish author talks about freedom and how it should be honored.

This weekend, President López Obrador shared a message with a citizen in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, after the Flag Day event, in which he made it clear that they will not allow the interference of any foreign government, this regarding the fact that the The United States government claimed López Obrador’s message against The New York Times.

“You cannot slander the president of Mexico, it should never be allowed. “If others allowed it, it was because they did not have the moral or political authority. I am not going to accept slander from anyone,” said López Obrador, who assured that newspapers, no matter how famous they are, must verify their information.
