President Nayib Bukele participated this Thursday in the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), which brings together important political figures and elected presidents. During his speech, he highlighted how El Salvador has triumphed in the field of security and is positioned as an important investment and tourism destination.
The president explained that El Salvador has faced different problems in the 60s and 70s, and the severity of them was analyzed until it became a civil war. Later, he faced a second war with criminal gang groups.
“After a million people fled the first war, many of them came to live in ghettos here in the United States, where they trained in weapons; when former President (Bill) Clinton deported many of those gang members, without telling us that they were gang members (…) The government at that time did not deal with the disease, nor did the following administration; and after that, the disease (gangs) that had started with mild symptoms worsened until it became a cancer that seemed incurable,” shared President Bukele.
Security policies, the fight against gangs and corruption have been the strategy that President Bukele led to remove from El Salvador the cancer that was destroying a nation with a future, hard-working and talented people in various fields, as well as beautiful destinations. tourist and with strong development potential.
“In our society we arrested terrorists, but we had to remove corrupt judges and corrupt lawyers and prosecutors. And it wasn’t just the gangs, the corrupt system working together with the so-called ‘international community’, the NGOs and, of course, the fake news that happens here in the United States (…) Let me tell you something. Thank God, Salvadorans are now immune to its influence. “No one believes their lies anymore, we just had free and fair elections and we won overwhelmingly with more than 84%,” the president added.
The CPAC is organized by the American Conservative Union where the most prominent politicians intervene and share their experiences. President Bukele was applauded after his participation, as part of the enormous support that the president has.
