Updated Baggage Restrictions for 2024: What You Need to Know

A few weeks ago, we told you about the possible end of 100ml in airports thanks to the gradual implementation of new scanners which would allow us to check the contents of our suitcases. The rules regarding baggage and its contents tend to change very regularly, so to save you additional stress, we have compiled for you the latest changes made by the different airlines for the year 2024.

In video: Here are the clothes you should never wear if you take a plane:

A specific baggage size

If you are traveling with Ryanair, you will be entitled to a bag measuring 40x20x25cm. You will therefore have to pay an extra €6 if you want to travel with a cabin suitcase.

With TUI, the principle is simple, you must be able to lift your own luggage. It must not exceed 55x40x20cm and 10 kilos. It is also possible to take a small handbag in addition to your suitcase. However, the addition of the two bags must correspond to the total authorized weight.

For Easyjet, no more free cabin suitcases with the purchase of your ticket. Now only a 45x36x20cm bag is allowed. This must be able to fit under the seat and must reach a maximum weight of 15 kilos. As with other airlines, adding additional baggage will incur additional charges.

Less comfort

While the airline sector is not experiencing its best days in a context of difficult economic conditions, any savings are good to take. So, a few weeks ago, in addition to the numerous baggage restrictions applied by airlines, we also learned that another habit was going to be revised for passengers. This actually concerns aircraft seats which can no longer be adjusted. Previously, it was enough to pull on a small device which then allowed the seat to be tilted. But the system was not robust enough given the delicacy of certain passengers, as a result they had to be replaced regularly. Also, so-called “fixed” seats are much lighter than those including a mechanism that can allow the seat to be tilted. Therefore, by choosing to replace these very heavy seats, the airline can hope to reduce the fuel needed for transport.
