Registration for the new government voucher has been possible since midnight on Thursday morning. Just before 9 a.m. on Thursday, just before 9 a.m. on Thursday, the counter for the Ledgers service – the treasury service where direct subscriptions can be subscribed – stood at 637 registrations for an amount of 18.3 million euros. More than 95 percent of that amount was subscribed to the one-year government bond.
To be clear: this amount does not yet take into account the amounts subscribed to with the banks. “An encouraging start,” says Jean Deboutte, director of the Debt Agency.
By way of comparison: when the government bond was successfully issued at the end of August last year, more than 66 million euros was raised on the first day by 8 am. Ultimately, almost 22 billion euros were raised over the entire registration period. At the time, this was on a government bond with reduced withholding tax, good for a net return of 2.81 percent. The normal rate of 30 percent withholding tax applies to the new government bond. This brings the net return in one year to 2.10 percent. There is also a three-year government bond, with a net return of 1.75 percent.
The Debt Agency says it wants to raise a maximum of 6 billion euros with the new government bonds. (belga)
