Lawsuit Filed Against Lifetime by Wendy Williams’ Court-Appointed Caregiver

Wendy Williams’ Court-Appointed Caregiver Files Lawsuit Against Lifetime

In a shocking turn of events, Wendy Williams’ court-appointed caregiver, Sabrina Morrissey, has filed a lawsuit against A+E Networks, the parent company of Lifetime. The lawsuit comes just two days before the premiere of a major documentary that chronicles Williams’ deteriorating mental state.

The sealed lawsuit, filed for injunctive relief, reveals that Morrissey is acting as a Temporary Guardian for Williams. This revelation comes as a surprise to the public and even Williams’ own family, as Morrissey’s identity had been unknown until now.

The complaint seeks a temporary restraining order and names A+E Networks and Entertainment One Reality Productions, the producer of the documentary. However, on Friday, Appellate Justice Peter H. Moulton ruled that such an order would be a violation of the First Amendment and vacated the temporary restraining order.

While the case documents remain sealed, a court date has been set for Tuesday, Feb. 27. Lifetime’s executive vice president of publicity, public affairs, and social media, Kannie Yu LaPack, confirmed that Lifetime appeared in court on Friday but did not provide any further details about the proceedings. Yu LaPack also assured that the documentary, titled “Where is Wendy Williams?”, will air as planned over two nights this coming weekend.

The documentary, filmed between August 2022 and April 2023, offers an intimate look into Williams’ life as her health and mental state decline. It was originally conceived as a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the relaunch of her career through a new podcast. However, due to Williams’ physical and mental condition, the focus shifted to her struggles with addiction and autoimmune disorders.

In an exclusive clip shared with People magazine, Williams is seen having a heart-to-heart conversation with her friend Angela “Blac Chyna” White at her New York apartment. During the emotional conversation, Williams removes her wig, revealing her real hair, and later shows White the damage caused by her lymphedema on her feet.

The appointment of Morrissey as Williams’ caregiver came amidst the TV personality’s public downfall. In late 2022, Williams’ financial adviser claimed that she was of “unsound mind,” leading Wells Fargo to petition for temporary financial guardianship. Williams is currently under Morrissey’s care in a facility and remains unreachable by anyone other than Morrissey.

As the legal battle unfolds, the public eagerly awaits more information about the lawsuit and its potential impact on the documentary and Williams’ future. The court date on Tuesday, Feb. 27, will likely shed more light on this complex situation.

In the meantime, fans of Wendy Williams can tune in to Lifetime this weekend to watch “Where is Wendy Williams?” and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges she has faced in recent years. The documentary promises to provide a raw and honest portrayal of Williams’ struggles with primary progressive aphasia, frontotemporal dementia, Graves’ disease, lymphedema, and alcohol addiction.
