President Milei meets with Secretary of State Blinken at Casa Rosada and attends conservative summit

President Javier Milei will meet this Friday with the Secretary of State of the United States, Antony John Blinken, at the Casa Rosada, to deepen bilateral ties, official sources informed Télam. The meeting, with an open agenda, is scheduled for 11 a.m., and Foreign Minister Diana Mondino will also participate, who will give a press conference at 11:45 a.m. with Blinken.

Blinken and the conservative summit

After the meeting with Blinken, Milei will travel to Washington that same night to participate in the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), a summit that hosts representatives of the Republican Party and leaders of the international far-right. The president will be accompanied by his sister and general secretary of the presidency, Karina Milei, and the not yet appointed Argentine ambassador to the United States, Gerardo Werthein. The government also does not rule out that the chief of staff, Nicolás Posse, joins the delegation.

The president will speak at the summit on Saturday at 12 (local time) with a speech focused on liberal ideas and will show off his victory. Listening carefully will be the president of the Spanish party VOX, Santiago Abascal; the former and short-lived prime minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss, who barely counted 40 days in government; the former parliamentarian and promoter of Brexit, Nigel Farage; the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele; former US Secretary of Urban Development, Ben Carson; North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson; and former Pentagon chief of staff Kash Patel, among other liberal leaders who will also participate in the summit.

The President and the photo with Trump

The main figure of the meeting will be the former president and candidate Donald Trump, who will speak two hours before the Argentine president. Although a formal meeting between the two leaders has not been agreed upon, in the libertarian circle they do not rule out that they could cross paths and eventually get a photo that is highly valued on the right-wing stock market, a decision that might not be seen so well from the White House.

Despite the rumors, Casa Rosada warns that this double agenda does not imply a conflict of interest. “The Yankees don’t mind that we have a relationship with Trump, they have a different vision of politics,” said a close collaborator of the president before this medium, who recalled that former president Macri “openly played” for Hillary Clinton in the elections. of 2016 and yet during the Republican presidency he maintained a close bond with the country.

Return

President Milei will arrive in the country on Monday morning to continue his work agenda, which will include preparing the speech for the opening of the Ordinary Sessions on March 1, where he is expected to continue attacks on deputies, senators and what he insists on describing as “the caste.”
