The mother of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny said that she must agree to a secret funeral for her son.
Navalny’s press secretary Kira Yarmysh reported this on the microblog X (formerly Twitter). According to her, an hour ago the investigator called Lyudmila with an ultimatum: either she agrees to a secret funeral without a public farewell within 3 hours, or her son will be buried in a colony.
“She refused to negotiate with the Investigative Committee because they do not have the authority to decide how and where she should bury her son. She demands compliance with the law, which obliges investigators to hand over the body within two days from the moment the cause of death is established. According to the medical documents that she signed , these two days expire tomorrow,” Yarmysh wrote.

As you know, on February 16, the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service published a statement about the death of a Russian oppositionist in a colony in Kharp.
Navalny’s mother said that her son died “from sudden death syndrome” and refused to hand over his body. She recorded an appeal to dictator Putin, in which she asked to give her her son.
Ukraine and a number of European countries blamed Putin and his regime for Navalny’s murder. Today, the United States has imposed more than 500 new sanctions against Russia.
