During the European Film Market of the Berlin International Festival, an agreement was reached that the Ukrainian Film Industry Support Fund will continue to operate in 2024.European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Films“, which was jointly founded by the film institutions of European countries exactly a year ago, during the 73rd Berlinale. Among the founding countries of the foundation are France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Norway and other countries, including Lithuania and Estonia; this year, four more countries have joined the foundation, including Latvia and Spain: Thanks to the increase in the number of member states, the fund’s funding has been increased to one and a half million euros, which will be allocated to co-productions created in cooperation between the Ukrainian film industry and the studios of the fund’s member states.
The European Solidarity Fund unites the forces of member states in targeted support for the Ukrainian film industry by announcing two tenders for financial support for the development and completion of film projects during the year; During 2023, 29 Ukrainian film projects were supported in these competitions.
This year’s competitions announced on February 21, film completion projects are accepted until March 15, development projects – until April 5. Competitions consider full-length films, which are intended to be shown mainly in cinemas, feature films, animation and documentary films can apply for support. The projects submitted to the competition are evaluated by a commission of seven experts, which includes professionals from the European film industry.
