In England, a former couple competes for a jackpot of more than a million euros. The woman believes that her ex-partner is not entitled to anything because he did not buy the winning ticket.
Money can break up a household. This story that comes to us straight from England illustrates this point wonderfully.
The reason ? After winning a million euros in the lottery, a woman did not hesitate to leave her partner. But that’s not all. She refuses to share the winnings, reports the British tabloid The Sun.
It all started when the couple in their thirties decided to buy a gambling game “together” from Camelot Lottery, a store located in Spalding, Lincolnshire. By chance, the two lovebirds come across a winning ticket and win the tidy sum of one million pounds sterling (approximately 1,168,278 euros).

The least we can say is that the fairy tale very quickly turned into a nightmare. As the English media specifies, the woman leaves her partner three months after hitting the jackpot. The latter then decides to keep the jackpot for herself.
Without real surprise, this decision is a real blow for his ex. The man, for his part, explains that it was his ex-girlfriend who bought and then scratched the winning ticket. However, he believes he has some responsibility for this victory. According to him, it was he who pushed his girlfriend at the time to buy the scratch card game.
“It should be 50-50”
For their part, the former owners of the store had told the man that the money would be shared. However, on February 10, the unfortunate winner received a letter from the new owner of the lottery.
It was in this context that he discovered that he had no right to anything. According to the manager, “only the name written on the back of the ticket could claim the prize.”

Furious and disappointed, the thirty-year-old intends to fight to win his case. To do this, he plans to take legal action. He claims that his ex-partner had agreed to share this money before changing her mind after the breakup. Today, she considers herself the only winner.
“I am in shock. I can openly admit that we wouldn’t have gotten this ticket without her, but she wouldn’t have gotten it without me either. I know it was his bank account that paid for it, but morally, it should be 50-50.”
