Independent media reported on the murder of a Cuban ambassador in Havana.
In accordance with The Watcher of Cuba, It would be Félix León, a veteran diplomat who worked as Cuba’s chargé d’affaires in Prague, in the Czech Republic. The official was also in charge of the European directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex).
According to a source consulted by the aforementioned media, the death of the former ambassador would have been violent, however, they do not know the reasons why this crime was carried out.
One of the hypotheses used by The Watcher of Cuba is that it could have been a violent robbery in the official’s home, although this has not been confirmed.
In this regard, Marcelo Caballero Torres, who was Cuba’s ambassador in Djibouti, went to social networks to mourn the death of the official, whom he considered a good friend.
“Félix Léon died on me… better said ‘they killed him on me’. ‘Pacolo’ as we also know him (I refuse to talk about you in the past tense) So many years together! and some bastards got in the way of our plans. This is our last photo…”, is stated in the publication.
The ambassador’s post was filled with comments lamenting León’s death, including several who stressed that it had been a murder.
“There can be no impunity. We must find the monsters, not only because of the vile crime committed, but also to prevent them from committing such horrible acts again with justice,” commented another Jorge Edgar Martí, another retired ambassador, among them.
Increase in insecurity
Crimes like these are nothing new on the Island, since for months social networks have been used to report robberies, assaults and murders throughout the country, one of the many consequences of the current economic crisis that Cuba is going through at the moment. .
One of the last reported murders was that of a young man who was in a restaurant in Camagüeywho was stabbed several times by a person he had had problems with in the past.
