“Despite the debates of the Municipal Council on February 15, I reiterate my desire to help Marseille, because the Department will always be alongside the City of Marseille.
At the beginning of December, I announced that I was ready to finance, to the tune of 200 million euros, essential projects for the daily lives of Marseille residents. As I recalled at that time, and it is still relevant today, we have every interest in working hand in hand for the good of the residents.
I am happy to see that my request bore fruit. Indeed, I will receive Benoît Payan, mayor of Marseille, on February 29. As I do with the 118 other communes of Bouches-du-Rhône, we will choose together the projects that the Department will finance. I will support projects in line with my vision, the Department is not a cash drawer!
On this occasion, we will discuss in more detail the proposals that I made to Benoît Payan:
- Investments for schools, in particular the renovation of school kitchens, to enable the City of Marseille to offer quality meals, cooked on site with short supply chain products;
- The creation of a large municipal agricultural authority and a processing unit to supply school canteens;
- The renovation of the Luminy swimming pool which will be more useful to the more than 8,000 students in this area;
- The creation of a new place of life and exchange in Marseille with the construction of a media library;
- The deployment of video protection to improve the security of Marseille residents;
- The installation of new police and video surveillance stations to the east, south and north of Marseille. » declared Martine Vassal, President of the Departmental Council of Bouches-du-Rhône and the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis.
