Netflix’s Avatar Series Filmed in World’s Largest LED Studio in Vancouver

The set where the new Avatar series was filmed also appeals to the imagination. Netflix used the largest LED studio in the world, located in Vancouver, to make the live-action film adaptation of the popular animated series possible.

Our colleagues from the Dutch news channel NRC were able to visit the filming in the high-tech film environment. “The Volume, as the 310 degree circular studio is called, covers a total of 2,200 square meters with 2,500 LED panels and another 760 of them on the ceiling,” they write.

Increasingly, studios like The Volume are replacing the traditional green screen (or green screen). “Such sets were also used for series such as “The Mandalorian” and “House of The Dragon” and “Our Flag Means Death”. Sets and landscapes can be displayed directly on the panels in The Volume, so that the camera records them directly as a background .”
