In the morning hours of this Monday, the Volunteer Firefighters reported that a Transportes Esmeralda bus caught fire at km. 54.5 of the old route from the municipality of PalÃn to Escuintla.
According to the passengers’ version, the fire started after the bus collided with a pole. However, the driver version is still unknown. Given the incident, residents of the surrounding sectors reported electricity problems.

Elements of the Volunteer Firefighters used 2,300 gallons of water to put out the fire and prevent the flames from spreading to the undergrowth.
