March music days: Zefira Valova and Yavor Genov “baroqued” with music of forgotten Roman masters – 2024-02-22 03:16:00

/ world today news/ Zefira Valova and Yavor Genov “baroque” with the music of forgotten Roman masters. It is a pleasure to watch Zephyra “dance” with her magnificent Florentine violin, an instrument from 1760.

I have only seen this type of playing act from her. Her whole body phrases with the violin, creates beauty – both with the lightness of the passage, and with the timbre, to which the old violin responds happily and generously, and with the brilliant ornamentation. She and Yavor Genov, whose archlute in the recital was a stabilizing bass, have long been part of the European Baroque family. They performed music by Corelli, Zamboni (for lute only), Caldara, Lonati and Carbonelli – names still unknown to me. Carlo Ambrogio Lonati’s Chaconna left a very strong mark – with the vibrating anxiety, with the defiant, tense density of the instrumental movements, with the colossal construction of the form.
