Unable to recognize the failure of communism, the Castro regime has decided to blame the island’s farmers for the marked shortage of milk in the country, ensuring that some 10,000 of them have failed to fulfill their delivery commitments to the state dairy industry.
According to the general director of livestock in the Ministry of Agriculture (Minag), Arián Gutiérrez Velázquez, these farmers failed to comply with their milk delivery, so more than two million liters of the precious product were not received. during January 2024.
This non-compliance is what is being pointed out as one of the largest contributors to the shortage of fluid milk in Cuba, which is added to the lack of funds to import the product to the Island.
The official assured Noticiero de Cuba that Minag began efforts to visit non-compliant producers, supposedly to evaluate their situations and look for ways to increase production.
However, it is most likely that these farmers point to a lack of animal food, drought, and other factors such as theft and illegal slaughter of livestock, problems that have affected dairy and meat production for years.
One of the biggest factors that have affected the livestock industry on the Island is the abandonment of this practice by farmers, something that is due to the miserable pay they receive from the government.
Currently, the Castro regime pays 20 Cuban pesos (CUP) per liter of milk delivered, a price that simply does not cover the expenses and effort invested in caring for the animal.
Likewise, the low payment does not serve to compensate for the risks that have begun to be associated with the activity. And cattle rustlers have come to take the lives of those who try to stop them..
The situation is not new, but it began to be felt more intensely after the approval of the so-called monetary regulation, which unleashed rampant inflation throughout the country, increasing the price of all products and services offered on the Island, including materials. raw material necessary for livestock farming, such as animal feed and fuel for transporting milk.
