Former international footballer Dani Alves is going through difficult times in prison after the revelations made by a former cellmate, as revealed through the Fiesta program, hosted by Emma García on Telecinco, Spain. According to these statements, Alves would have been placed within an anti-suicide protocol in the Brians 2 prison in Barcelona, after his trial.
“Extreme measures have been taken. As a result of the trial, she has suffered from depression. Like depressed, crestfallen. Educators and officials seem to be supporting him. For fear that it will be cut or someone will try to do something crazy or stories like that. He was with that protocol the day after the trial,” said a prisoner about the Brazilian’s current situation.
The aforementioned protocol focuses on the prevention, detection and intervention of suicidal risk. It includes evaluations to determine the status of the inmates, security measures such as continuous surveillance and mobility restrictions, along with support programs such as therapies and leisure activities, aimed at avoiding possible suicides.
Additionally, it was spread that the former Juventus, Barcelona and PSG (among others) had plans to escape to Brazil. A former prisoner companion, also known as Ronaldinho’s former bodyguard, identified as Coutinho, would have informed Silva Álamo (journalist for the Fiesta program) about the footballer’s intentions to return to Brazil in case of obtaining provisional freedom.
“The elements of the risk of flight still exist. The stifled economic situation is a bit striking. Alves’ football heritage is very high, he is one of the best players in history. He still has financial capacity or friends who do. We insist that Brazil does not have an extradition agreement. Now that the possible sentence is so close to the risk of flight, for us it is much more,” the Prosecutor’s Office explained about this situation.
It should be noted that between February 5 and 7, the trial of Dani Alves took place, who faces accusations of sexual assault of a young woman at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona. The Prosecutor’s Office requests a sentence of 9 years in prison for Alves, while the complainant requests 12 years. After the testimony of thirty witnesses, both the Prosecutor’s Office and the private prosecution opposed his release, awaiting the final sentence.
In said trial, the footballer completely denied the facts of which he was accused and gave his version of what happened: “I told her to go to the bathroom first and that she would come in later. I went and waited for a while, I thought she wasn’t going to come. She was already leaving when I saw her coming in. When we entered the bathroom, she started to unbutton my pants, I helped her. She got on top of me and started giving me fellatio (…) I am not a violent man, I didn’t grab her hair at all.”
