Gwyneth Goes Skiing: Musical about Gwyneth Paltrow’s Utah trial set to open in Park City

A musical about Gwyneth Paltrow’s recent trial is about to open in Utah.

The Oscar-winning actress has been embroiled in a high-profile legal dispute with Utah-based optometrist Terry Sanderson in 2023, and “Gwyneth Goes Skiing” — the new musical about their infamous lawsuit — is set to debut at the Egyptian Theater in Park City, Utah, reports Variety.

The town is a world-famous destination for ski enthusiasts, and it’s also where Gwyneth had a run-in with the optometrist.

Linus Karp and Joseph Martin, the creators of the series, will play the actress and Terry Sanderson respectively, while Trixie Mattel will play the role of Blythe Danner, Gwyneth’s mother.

Gwyneth and Terry collided on a ski slope in 2016, and he later sued the actress for $3.1 million in damages.

However, the Hollywood star was ultimately awarded $1 in damages after a jury found Sanderson was “100 percent” responsible for the accident.

Linus, of Awkward Productions, admitted to being captivated by the “ridiculousness” of the affair.

He told Sky News: “An Oscar-winning actress, the founding queen of Goop, in a Utah courtroom, accused by a man who is far from a Hollywood celebrity… it’s ridiculous in a courtroom where everything is taken seriously. The ridiculousness of the case made it so gripping.”
