Juraj Slafkovský already scored in eight games in a row, which in this statistic not only broke the Montreal Canadiens club record for players under the age of 20, but also ensured the best performance of Slovaks in the NHL in recent years.
The last time we witnessed a similarly long point streak of the Slovak in the NHL was in the 2011/12 season, when he scored in eight consecutive duels Marian Hossa. In the same year, he managed to extend this series by one more game, when he scored in nine duels in a row. It was already in the Chicago Blackhawks jersey.
Slafkovský’s eight-match series is thus the best performance of a Slovak hockey player in this statistic for the last 12 seasons!
It is also interesting to look at other Slovak hockey players. Slafkovský, for example, matched the best performance Marián Gáborík, who never managed to score in nine consecutive duels, stopped at number eight several times. He even managed to do it once in the playoffs.
He was particularly successful in this regard in the 2009/10 season in the New York Rangers jersey. He scored points in the first eight duels of the season, but the ninth duel came out with no points. He then went on to score in four straight games, go one game without a point again, and then add another eight-game hitting streak.

He had a similar curse to him, but a match more Paul Demitra. He never scored in ten duels in a row, five times he had a nine-game streak.
The two names have been fairly close to eight games in recent years, but ended up at number seven. Tomas Tatar in the 2022/23 season a Richard Panik v 2017/18.
He also had an eight-game streak Miroslav Šatan, but that was in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons. With this name, we also reach Slovakian record holders and those who managed to reach a double-digit number.
More than 10 matches
Let’s take a look at this statistic from the latest addition. He scored in the 2006/07 season Marian Hossa in the jersey of the Atlanta Trashers in 11 duels in a row. In terms of points, it was his most successful season, he scored exactly one hundred. However, it is not his best performance. In the year 2002/03, he scored for Ottawa in thirteen duels in a row.
For further double-digit entries, we have to move from the 21st to the 20th century. In the 1997/98 season, two Slovaks did it. Žigmund Pálffy for the New York Islanders he scored in thirteen duels in a row and Peter Bondra in Washington at eleven. A season earlier, Bondra also had a ten game streak.
In the 1995/96 season, he was a rookie at the time Miroslav Šatan stopped at number eleven. With him, we also looked at another interesting comparison with Juraj Slafkovský, but we will get to that later. First, let’s finish the best Slovaks in this statistic.

The Happy Brothers
In the 1995/96 season, we finished with hockey players from the so-called more modern era, and it is the turn of the Happy brothers. He especially stands out from them Peterhe had up to twelve such scoring streaks and is in the first six places in the Slovakian table. His longest hitting streak was 19 games.
Marián Šťastný scored in thirteen consecutive duels, Anton again at eleven. All three managed it, of course, in the jersey of the Quebec Nordiques, but Peter Šťastný also had two such series for the New Jersey Devils.
We can also mention Stop Mikitawho had the longest sixteen game streak.

Who else but…?
If you had to guess which hockey player dominated this poll overall, you would probably guess. It is none other than Wayne Gretzky, who had an incredible 51-game streak in the 1983/84 season, scored 153 points in it. He is in second place with 46 duels Mario Lemieux, then again Gretzky and again Gretzky…
From the more modern era, it is in first place Patrick Kanein the 2015/16 season he scored in 26 duels in a row, he is followed by Sidney Crosby with 25 in the 2010/11 season.
Slafkovský has his fingers in the most current ones
Juraj Slafkovský has not reached ten games yet, but he has a significant share of two players who really managed to do it just a few days ago.
His teammate from the attack Cole Caufield he went on an 11-game hitting streak from January 11 to February 10, but it has now ended.
The string of the third member of their attack and the captain of Montreal continues Nick Suzukihe is currently at number ten and has the longest active streak along with Tampa Bay’s Nikit Kučerov.

Satan – Slafkovsky
Now let’s look at the aforementioned comparison of Miroslav Šatan and Juraj Slafkovský. First, let’s talk about the essential difference, Slafkovský made his debut in the NHL immediately after the draft, when he was still 18 years old. Miroslav Šatan debuted in the NHL a week before his 21st birthday.
Both had a comparable start from the point of view of scoring, after 25 duels they were on ten points. Šatan won points after roughly 40 duels, when his mentioned record streak also came. Finally, in his first season with the Edmonton Oilers, he played 62 games with 35 points (18+17).
Slafkovský scored only ten points in the first season, but played only 39 duels in it, as he was injured in January. Satan had 15 points after the first 39 duels.
Slafkovský had the most runs in his second season in February, roughly the same time as Šatan in his first season.
Currently, the 19-year-old striker still has 40 points in a total of 94 NHL games. Miroslav Šatan had nine points more in the first 94 games.
Finally, let’s take a look at the statistics of the Canadian Slovaks scoring in the NHL in the under-20 category. She clearly reigns supreme Marian Gáboríkhe managed to play 149 duels in this category with a balance of 48+55, i.e. 103 points.
It is in second place Juraj Slafkovský with the aforementioned 40 points. He is the third Marian Hossa, he has 31 points, but played only 67 games. And in fourth place is the defender Simon Nemec with 14 points in 33 duels.
