Lummen –
More than 80 redundancies will be made at the Belgian branches of dairy company FrieslandCampina, instead of the announced 58. This has been confirmed by the trade union ACV. If possible, many more than 28 jobs are at stake in the offices in Lummen.
“Although we are only in the first phase of the Renault law, it became clear during the latest meeting that even more departments will disappear than initially announced,” says union secretary Kris Fortie. “In total, this concerns just over 80 jobs that will be eliminated in phases.”
It was already known that at least 28 jobs will be lost in Lummen. It is still unclear what this new announcement actually means for the Limburg branch. Although there is a good chance that even more jobs will disappear in Lummen.

FrieslandCampina announced on December 12 that it would cut around 1,800 jobs worldwide in 2024 and 2025. A number of administrative functions would move to Hungary. More than half of the jobs in the Netherlands will disappear. In Belgium, the company employs 631 workers and 599 employees.
The Renault law comes into effect in the event of collective dismissals. The procedure was started in December, after the restructuring was announced. In the coming weeks, the social partners will move to phase two: negotiating the social plan. It will then also become clear when the first employees will have to be made redundant.
