According to Putin, European countries hoped that if they did not buy Russian gas, the Russian economy would collapse.
He announced that the current policy of the German authorities is causing enormous damage to the future of the German economy.
“German industry is moving to other countries, including the US, where more favorable conditions have been created and energy resources are cheaper, as costs for Berlin are increasing significantly due to their liquefaction, ocean transportation and additional gasification,” Putin said .

He stated that Russia is now looking for other routes to export natural gas to Europe.
“We are starting to work more on our own gasification, on using these energy resources to solve internal economic problems not only in the system of housing construction and communal services, but also for the economy and industry,” Putin added.
