New Chandra Observations Search for Supermassive Black Hole at Center of Abell 2261 Galaxy Cluster

GORAJUARA – Almost every large galaxy in the universe has a Supermassive Black Hole at its center.

In this case, the mass of the black hole usually corresponds to the mass of the galaxy itself, where its mass is millions or billions of times that of the Sun.

Reported by GORAJUARA from the nasa.gov page, astronomers estimate that the galaxy at the center of Abell 2262 contains a supermassive black hole that rivals some of the largest black holes in the universe.

The estimates were produced using NASA’s Chandra X-ray data obtained in 1999 and 2004.

Astronomers have been searching the center of the massive galaxy Abell 226, for signs of a supermassive black hole.

In this case, they are looking for material that has become extremely hot as it falls towards the Black Hole and produces X-rays

However, this source was not found.

Now, with new, longer Chandra observations obtained in 2018, a deeper search will be carried out for the Supermassive Black Hole at the center of the galaxy.

This missing black hole should be at the center of the Abell 2261 Galaxy cluster which is located about 2.7 billion light years from Earth.

The galaxy at the center of Abell 2261 is an excellent cluster for searching for retrograde Black Holes.

However, the authors concluded from Chandra X-ray data that there are no supermassive black holes at that location.
