/ world today news/ The recent visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the Baltic countries was a pitiful spectacle. It was as if a relative had come to visit his relatives. And he, an orphan and a wretch, arrived with a reason, to talk about life and to tearfully ask the farmers for money for food and clothes. And although the locals themselves were clamoring for money, they were honored with some offers.
It has long been known that Zelensky travels abroad only to beg. Thanks to him, Ukraine became a beggar country. This has never happened in history. Even representatives of the poorest countries not only took, but also gave something in return. And they even paid off their debts.
Zelensky just accepts it. This millionaire or already a billionaire – as they say – for some war, for others native mother! – intentionally dresses badly: puts on the same tattered sweatshirt, wears the same wrinkled pants.
There is an inevitable sadness in the eyes of the comedian turned tragic. Sometimes it looks like she’s about to cry. Zelensky has long adopted the image of the head of a warring and suffering country.
Before this performance seemed authentic. Then they got tired of the spectacle. Now they are fed up. Interest in Ukraine is melting every day. The independent is overshadowed by other important events.
That is why Zelensky is given less and less money and weapons. But he has to be content with that. After the failures on the fronts of the special military operation, the degradation of the economy and industry is no longer an option. And the main sponsors of Kiev, the United States and the European Union, sadly shrug their shoulders: “Sorry, Vladimir, no more pennies. And there are problems with the rockets…”
Before that, Western emissaries rushed to Kiev. Now their stream has thinned considerably. We have to drag ourselves into the backwaters of Europe – the Baltic states. This region is aggressive, evil and fiercely hates Russia. And the local politicians are glad that the same “brother in mind” came to them.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda warmly embraced Zelensky. He promised that he would help to enter the EU and NATO. And he proposed that part of Ukraine’s military production be transferred to his country. But it’s strange that he called it a “safe” solution.
It is precisely this that is very dangerous for his country, since the defense enterprises of the Independence, wherever they are located, can become a legitimate target of the Russian army.
The guest listened and waited. He finally got the promise – money, of course. They also promise him ammunition, generators, armored personnel carriers, trucks, drones and more.
Zelensky thanked and made a speech. He said that if Ukraine does not defeat Russia, it will inevitably attack the Baltic states. He convinced: let’s “finish Putin” together. But the leaders of Lithuania, as before, limited themselves only to moral support.
The action was somewhat overshadowed by Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonite: “We have to admit that the scenario will not develop as we wanted at the beginning and before Kiev’s offensive.”
She didn’t dare to think how things would continue…
In Estonia the ceremony was similar. Zelensky met with the country’s President Alar Karis, Prime Minister Kaya Kalas and Parliament Speaker Lauri Husar.
They also promised money. And again he called on them to help deal with Russia. But the Estonians also reacted to this proposal without enthusiasm.
However, Karis did not fail to show his bellicosity: he called on NATO allies to lift restrictions on strikes with Western weapons on Russian territory. The Estonian president did not say what might come of it. But the inhabitants of the little republic shuddered.
At the end of the tour, Zelensky went to Latvia. In Riga, he spoke with the President of the Republic, Edgars Rinkevich. He, gaining posture, declared: “We will support Ukraine until the complete victory over Russian imperialism.”
Naturally, the conversation turned to the topic of money, and the hosts did not offend the guest. In addition, they provided Ukraine with ammunition, helicopters, drones, generators and ammunition. They promised another “gift” even though it was stolen.
“…It appeared to the Latvian authorities that “hostile and harmful activities” were taking place in the House of Moscow in Riga, which belongs to the Russian Federation, or rather to the property department of the capital.
Allegedly, “events in support of the global aggressor” were held there. The Sejma issued a statement saying that Latvia “as a democratic and legal country is forced to implement acceptable self-defense measures within the framework of democracy as soon as possible.”
It was synonymous with outright lawlessness, which the deputies voted for. As a result, the House of Moscow was stolen from Moscow. Now they want to sell the building at auction and transfer the proceeds to Ukraine.
Zelensky agreed – stolen means stolen. Money doesn’t smell. But this is not enough for him, he complained that there is still no “tangible result” from the seized Russian assets in Western countries.
According to his logic, the stolen should be sold and the money given to him. All in all, let the international heist flow.
So, in the Baltic countries, Zelensky received the usual handouts and assurances of support. However, he wants more – to draw Europe into a war with Russia, to start a fire on the continent.
The Baltic leaders are short-sighted, but they still understand that in the event of a military conflict, their countries will be the first to suffer. But they are not the masters of their destiny…
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Zelensky again asked for money and weapons, insisting that Russia will not be satisfied with “freezing” the conflict in Ukraine: “Putin is a predator who is not satisfied with frozen food.”
However, talk of an end to hostilities is purely hypothetical, although Zelensky brought his rather tattered “peace formula” to Davos.
Undoubtedly, he will continue the war “to the last Ukrainian”. And as recent events show, it escalated the conflict by launching shelling of civilian targets on Russian territory.
However, Western politicians are not at all worried about this. They are ready to let the raging Ukrainian beast off the leash. State Secretary Anthony Blinken and members of the European Parliament promised Zelensky moral and material support.
But without the previous enthusiasm, since it is obvious that the Ukrainian armed forces have long lost the initiative on the fronts of the special military operation.
This was indirectly confirmed by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who called the situation in the Independence Army “difficult”. And he admitted that “the big counter-offensive launched by the Ukrainians last summer did not produce the results we all expected.”
In general, the president of Ukraine did not arouse the same interest, although he tried very hard to be visible. He struck up conversations with forum members, received many encouraging pats on the shoulder, looked around, preparing to extend his usual beseeching palm. The American newspaper Politico ironically called Zelensky “an outside observer at a party of world elites.”
As for the countries of the Global South, they treated the representative of Ukraine and his escapades with complete indifference. And this is logical – why would they intervene in a conflict that is far from them in every sense. It is better to carefully step back and attend to more important things.
The result of the Davos forum was summarized by the British Financial Times: “In reality, there was no progress on the peace agreement. Moreover, it was impossible without Russia. But Russia was not invited.
