Oppenheimer is the big winner of the BAFTAs. Director Christopher Nolan’s film won seven prizes in London on Sunday evening.
Irish actor Cillian Murphy won the BAFTA for his leading role in Oppenheimer. Dutch cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema won prizes for his camera work for the film.
Oppenheimer was nominated thirteen times for the prestigious British film award. The prize for best cinematography, among others, was won by Dutch cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema. Robert Downey Jr. won the award for best supporting actor in the film about the “father of the atomic bomb”.
Poor Things by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos is the other big winner of the evening. The film won four prizes. Emma Stone won the Best Actress award for her role.
Barbie, another 2023 film hit, goes home empty-handed. Director Greta Gerwig’s film was nominated for five awards.
