Cruz Verde Salvadoreña reported this afternoon a traffic accident at kilometer 16 and a half of the Pan-American highway, in the municipality of San Martín. The accident left one person dead and three others injured.
The first responders went to the scene of the accident, and upon arrival, they reported that one of the people was already dead, while three others were taken to a health center with various injuries.
The fatal victim was a motorcyclist who works as a gas distributor in the area, while the injured are drivers who were traveling in other vehicles involved in the multiple accident.
The death of the motorcyclist was recorded by a security camera and widely circulated on social networks. The images show how the man was hit head-on by a blue truck when he was about to start the march to go distribute the product.
Likewise, another emergency originated a few kilometers from said place, but this time on the road to Suchitoto, near the Las Guaras bridge, where a 19-year-old young man suffered a motorcycle accident resulting in various fractures.
The National Road Safety Observatory registers an increase in traffic accidents so far in 2024, to date it has reported 2,470 while in the same period of 2023 there were 2,182. The number of injuries also increased by 151 more this year.
