Dozens of teenagers suspected of being gangsters were arrested by the police when they were about to brawl in Parung, Bogor, West Java. A total of 12 sharp weapons, including sickles, machetes and golf clubs, were also confiscated.
“The Parung Sector Police arrested 15 teenagers suspected of being involved in a gangster group and wanting to brawl,” said Parung Police Chief Commissioner Sularso in his statement, Sunday (18/1/2024).
Sularso said that dozens of teenagers were arrested by the Depok Police Pioneer Team in Kampung Jati, Parung Village, Bogor Regency, on Saturday (17/2/2024), at 04.30 WIB. Dozens of teenagers were chased by the Pioneer Team from the Sawangan area, Depok.
“The chronology of the incident is that there was a chase that started in the Sawangan area, Depok, where the teenagers planned to fight. The Depok Metro Police Pioneer Patrol Team succeeded in thwarting the action, triggering a chase until the teenagers hid in the house of one of the perpetrators in “Kampung Jati, Parung,” said Sularso.
During the arrest, sickles, machetes and golf clubs were confiscated which were suspected to be used for brawls. The police also confiscated 7 motorbikes driven by the teenagers.
“During the search, the police succeeded in confiscating a number of pieces of evidence in the form of sharp weapons, including three sickles, six machetes and two golf clubs. Not only that, seven motorbikes of various brands and 12 cellphone “was also found as evidence,” said Sularso.
“We hope that this arrest will have a deterrent effect and increase security in the Parung area,” he added.
