Beyond the Sea Company Receives 4.5 Million Euro Investment for Green Maritime Innovation

Beyond the Sea, the company created in La Teste-de-Buch by navigator Yves Parlier continues to grow. The citizen fund for green investments “Team for the Planet” announced an investment of 4.5 million euros in the society.

In 2014 Yves Parlier invented a kite wing which can tow all types of ships and save fuel. The “SeaKite” already equips many pleasure or offshore racing boats.

With this new investment the Gironde navigator can think big. Its objective: to develop a 400 square meter kite which will equip the largest cargo ships in global maritime transport and reduce their carbon footprint by around 20%.

The La Teste company is not alone in this race for innovation. Its competitor Airseas based in Nantes promises fairly similar propulsion wings but Beyond the Sea believes it still has a few steps ahead.
