Roughing up Trump will become Zelensky’s “swan song”. – 2024-02-17 23:16:15

/ world today news/ “Think first, then speak” This was the response of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Donald Trump to his proposals for resolving the conflict. Apparently, Zelensky said this without thinking about his own fate.

And so I will say, as my father always told me, “Think first, then speak.”

This remark from the current president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is intended for the likely president of the United States, Donald Trump – a narcissistic, self-centered, vindictive and bad-tempered person, if the memoirs of Americans close to him at different times are to be believed.

In other words, Zelensky himself did not think enough before referring to his father.

This happened at a meeting with journalists after the forum in Davos, so the switch to personal attacks can be considered part of the general hysteria of the president of Ukraine, which happened to him in Switzerland. Perhaps this is due to the lack of quick access to the substances that his body needs during business trips abroad, because Zelensky was apparently rude to the Chinese premier, which contradicts any possible goals of Ukraine. Apparently we have to see who is more vindictive – Trump or the Chinese.

“As I understand it, there was some kind of conference and Trump said that if Putin doesn’t stop, he’s going to transfer more weapons to Ukraine. If Ukraine doesn’t stop, it will collect some stocks,” Zelensky said.

Trump certainly didn’t say that. Most likely, from his point of view, Ukraine does not and cannot have any reserves: it is not a country, but a hopeless nudity.

But he offered Kiev before considering the transfer of Russia to the regions that gravitate towards it and prefer the Russian language. There is already logic in this – both on the part of Trump and on the part of Zelensky, since the treatment of the Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine as a kind of “reserve” is not surprising in his case. A possible synonym for “reserve” is “hostages”.

But the main point of the president of Ukraine, which he tried to convey to journalists in Davos, was that Russia will not stop with Ukraine and subsequently invade a NATO country, and what do they think Mr. Trump will do then ? That is why he must first think and only then speak.

This is a classic example of transferring a problem from a completely sick head to a relatively healthy one. And Trump will remember that. American opinion polls show that he is ahead of the current president, Joe Biden, in almost all “key states”, that is, he should become the next leader of the United States. And what will Zelensky do then?

The fact that “Russia will attack one of the NATO countries if it defeats Ukraine” is now the common line of the regional committee in Washington, the NATO secretariat and the European Commission. A propaganda myth that is used in the West to justify providing Kiev and arming the Ukrainian Armed Forces with a view to a new “counter-offensive” in 2025. The fact that Zelensky uttered it on the spot and not on the spot does not raise any questions.

But he should understand that Trump’s return to the White House in a year is a much more likely development than the deployment of Russian troops, for example, to Lithuania.

This return does not mean that the US will stop supporting Ukraine, as Russia’s opposition to Europe is in its long-term interests, and the military conflict itself is in the interests of US industry and energy groups, sponsors of Trump’s Republican Party.

And Trump himself speaks much more softly about Kiev than many “Trumpists” or the prime ministers of Hungary and Slovakia.

For example, commenting on Biden’s confrontation with the House of Representatives, which “squeezed out” more than $60 billion for Kiev, he said that a deal with the White House on financing Ukraine can only be concluded after Biden fulfills all the demands of the Republicans for strengthening on the border with Mexico. But he could, in principle, be completely opposed to spending money on Ukraine. This idea is now shared by the majority of his electorate.

However, Ukraine is not equal to Zelensky, which he apparently forgot. For Washington, it is not so important who is the senior in Kiev, and for the “senior” himself, the favor of the USA is as necessary as air. Without him, his own will tear him apart.

Even if we proceed from the logic of hardened nationalists who are ready to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian, the “senior” should be the one who can build relations with the main sponsor – America. If you can’t handle it, get out.

The EU’s biggest countries say they will continue to fund Ukraine even if the US leaves the game. If we assume that this actually happened and the Europeans somehow go it alone, prolonging the existence of the regime in Kiev, Zelensky personally will still not be able to survive without a protection order signed by the American ambassador. That being said, arguing with Trump is like soaping your own rope.

When Trump becomes president again, Zelensky will become an interim president whose official term has already expired. He will be the architect of military defeat and a figure to whom it is convenient to attribute the failures of players both in Ukraine and in the West. And the most likely development of events is a condition from Washington to Zelensky, according to which further assistance will be linked to the holding of the presidential elections in Ukraine.

This is something that the Republican Party and some of the Democratic Party will inevitably agree with. This is the most convenient and safe tactic for Trump personally. And this is one of the likely scenarios for the end of the story of Volodymyr Zelensky, as he will have to be re-elected with the slogan “everyone die for me”.

“No, you better go first,” he risked hearing back.

It remains unclear whether the current president of Ukraine (as his father taught him) thought about this before breaking off relations with Trump. He probably didn’t have time.

The rules of KVN competitions, where Zelensky once shone, gave 30 seconds for thinking. But when a person is in a state of self-destruction as a politician and as a person, even two years may not be enough to find smart words, which we see in his case.
