Gets appearance comments
In an Instagram post published on Thursday, the actor and comedian responds to the speculation about the health – and at the same time takes the opportunity to criticize those who constantly comment on women’s appearance.
“Thank you so much for everyone’s input regarding my face! I have enjoyed feedback and opinions about my appearance just like all women do for almost 20 years. And you are right that it is more swollen than usual right now. I have endometriosis, an autoimmune disease that all women should learn about. There are some medical and hormonal things going on in my world right now but I’m fine,” she writes.

Want to propagate self-love
She asks fans to focus on what she does instead of what she looks like.
“I also don’t think a woman should have to excuse her appearance and be required to provide an explanation. But I wanted to take this opportunity to promote self-love and acceptance of one’s appearance. Just like any other woman/human I feel confident and good as hell some days and others I just want to put a bag over my head. But I feel strong and beautiful and so proud of this TV series I’ve created. Written. Starred in and directed. Maybe, just maybe we can focus on that for a little while”.
Amy Schumer has previously shared that she suffered from severe pain due to her endometriosis. In 2021, she had surgery to remove her uterus and appendix as a consequence of the disease. She also had difficulty getting pregnant, but had her son in 2019 Gene make med Chris Fischer.

Endometriosis
Endometriosis means that the endometrium grows outside the uterus. About one in ten menstruating people has the disease.
A common symptom is having a lot of pain in connection with menstruation. The most common is that you need treatment for the pain to be alleviated or disappear.
It is common for the first symptoms to appear in adolescence. Some get symptoms already the first time they have their period.
It is different from person to person which symptoms you have if you have endometriosis. Some do not feel their endometriosis at all, or quite a bit. Others may have symptoms not listed here.
It is common to have one or more of these symptoms if you have endometriosis:
- You get a lot of pain when you have your period.
- You have pain deep into the vagina and in the stomach when you have vaginal intercourse.
- You have symptoms similar to a urinary tract infection. For example, you may feel the need to urinate often or have difficulty getting started to urinate.
- You have symptoms similar to IBS, such as diarrhea or constipation.
- It hurts when you pee or poop.
- You have blood in your pee or poo during your period.
- You generally feel sick, tired, nauseous and have a fever.
- It is difficult to get pregnant.
- You have longer and more abundant periods.
Endometriosis usually disappears after menopause, but sometimes the pain remains.
