The Next Xbox: A Huge Leap in Technology Despite Multiplatform Exclusives – PCGamer

It’s somewhat contradictory to say that the new Xbox will be a huge leap in technology, while several Xbox exclusives are going multiplatform.

There have been rumors that one of the new Xbox consoles will be a Nintendo Switch clone (ie a handheld that can run games locally). We’ve also heard that the Redmonds are giving up on consoles and that most Xbox exclusives are becoming multiplatform. These rumors are only partially true, because we heard about the Xbox strategy that Microsoft has no intention of stopping console production!

Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, confirmed that the company’s plans include console production, and certain Xbox exclusives may appear on the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and the big N has not yet been announced, and maybe only in 2025 on your upcoming new hardware. Let’s see what Xbox President Sarah Bond had to say about the hardware: “There will be more. We have some exciting things to share on the hardware front before the holidays this year [az év végén]. We are also investing in the next generation roadmap. What we’re really focused on is delivering the biggest technical leap we’ve ever seen in a generation of hardware that makes it better for gamers, creators and the visions they build.”

With this, Microsoft has bluntly promised that the Xbox Series will not be the last two consoles from the company, but will also be new generation hardware, which probably won’t be cheap, because yesterday we wrote that we will either get less and less technological/performance development, or more and more money you have to ask for the consoles because of the expensive parts. Compared to the Xbox Series X, how can they really achieve outstanding technological progress? What balance will Microsoft be able to strike between performance and price? Because the price/value ratio is not negligible, especially in the case of a console.

Meanwhile, multiplatform Xbox games are mixing up the strategy, although we also reported a few days ago that they are more aggressive on PC. So the strategy is changing, and seeing how much has changed in 10 years, it won’t even be like this.
