/View info/ On the 21st st. in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, the third summit of the countries of the Global South (G-77) was opened.
It involved nearly 100 countries, as well as a number of UN agencies.
Since the 1990s, Beijing has coordinated and cooperated with these countries under the G-77 + China mechanism.
After the meeting, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told China Media Group that Beijing has made important contributions to the advancement of South-South cooperation and indicated that one of the main objectives of his coming to Kampala was to “ensure that international institutions are reformed in such a way that the global South acquires its due weight’.
