Moscow and Tehran will sign a major agreement on military-technical cooperation and regional security. This is stated in a press service of the Ministry of Defense. This agreement will be the frightening continuation of the rapprochement between Russia and Iran for the West. In the West, there has long been talk of, so to speak, secret cooperation between the two countries in the military sphere. Above all, Russia uses Iranian Shahed drones to attack military targets in Ukraine.
Back in August 2022, The Washington Post claimed that Iran had sent the first batch of drones to us, which were planned to be used during the special military operation.
True, it turned out that Russia fired not Shahedi, but local Geranis at the targets. And although our drones looked a lot like Iran’s, they were still ours.
In July 2023, CNN, citing analysts from the Pentagon’s Intelligence Agency, created a sensation – Iran is helping Russia build a plant for the production of UAVs in its country.
Anyway, now there are no secrets: Russia will officially cooperate with Iran in the military sphere.
Friends from the DPRK
At the same time, Moscow continues to be friends with Pyongyang. North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee flew to Moscow to discuss the economic and political agenda with our Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. And, of course, military cooperation.
Everyone also hears about Sergei Shoigu’s visit to the DPRK. Last July, he and Kim Jong Un assessed an exhibition of North Korean weapons. And there was a lot to see. Judging by the photos released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Sergei Shoigu was shown new drones, new heavy armored vehicles and the latest missiles, including intercontinental ones.
And in September, Kim Jong Un visited our country. Visited the Vostochny Cosmodrome with Vladimir Putin. Then there were five hours of face-to-face negotiations.

This development of “combat” cooperation between the two countries infuriated the West. Back in the early days of 2024, White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby accused Russia of using North Korean-made short-range ballistic missiles. They say the Russians released “at least one of them in Ukraine.” And said during the briefing:
Our information indicates that North Korea has recently provided Russia with ballistic missile launchers and projectiles.
But Kiev denied this version the same day. Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat noted that they had no evidence of such use. But this did not prevent the main supporters of democracy on January 10 in the UN Security Council from raising again the topic of Russia’s purchase of North Korean missiles while “the DPRK is under universal sanctions due to its nuclear weapons tests.”

The hysteria of the West about Moscow’s friendship with the dangerous “exiles” Iran and North Korea is not without foundation. Americans are aware that Russia is about to return to superpower status. Inna Vetrenko: The European Union and the United States believe that such friendship will destabilize the situation in the region. But for us, on the contrary, this is a strategically important moment. All the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance united against Russia in the SVO. And we also need helpers. Such big players as Iran and North Korea are a big plus.
Tsargrad: What exactly is the advantage?
— First, this has already strengthened the informational influence of our country on the world agenda. We see with what trepidation the West discusses this topic. Second, this progressive cooperation will strengthen our country’s military power.
– But what will they want in return?
— In the current geopolitical realities, Iran and the DPRK themselves need comrades. Each of these countries has a conflict of interest in its region. They really need Russia, which has already passed the hot phase of the war and has the most powerful army, for help in solving their military-geopolitical interests.
— We are also friends with China. All this will be a step towards returning Russia to the superpower status that the USSR had and which we lost after its collapse.
“But at the same time, we do not impose ourselves on anyone and we are for a multipolar world. This does not prevent us from having the status of a superpower, which includes an independent foreign policy, a serious influence in the system of international relations, a progressively developing economy and a high level of development of the military and defense sector.
„For a long time, we did not manage to regain our former glory: we retreated now in one position, now in another.
– And now such a chance is available. Economically, we withstood a huge number of sanctions, got our economy up and established our production. Now we are moving into a new quality in military terms, the military industry in Russia is developing very actively.
The state of superpower is not systemic but complex. It must be achieved in all positions and at once. Now Russia has such potential. Cooperation with other countries and our inclusion in various alliances – SCO, BRICS and so on – is a kind of confirmation that Russia is on the way to becoming a superpower.
So what?
The countries designated by the West as exile countries actually formed a single axis of opposition to the American hegemon: neither sanctions nor threats work anymore. And Russia is at the head of the resistance. It wins in this situation not only from the point of view of temporary geopolitical strengthening. She gains military and economic power through new friends and her own development. So Russia will be a superpower.
