Two people died in Israel when a gunman opened fire at a busy bus stop near the town of Kiryat Malakhi. Perpetrator shooting was killed by an armed civilian who was at the scene.
Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu warned Israelis that the entire country was now the front line in the war.
As reported AFP and Al ArabiyaSaturday (17/2/2024), a spokesperson for the Kaplan Medical Center said that two people who were rushed to their medical facility were declared dead after the attack occurred on Friday (16/2) local time.
Four other people, according to the Israeli Police, were injured in the deadly shooting. The shooting occurred near Kiryat Malakhi, which is about 25 kilometers north of the Gaza Strip which has been the scene of war between Israel and Hamas for the past four months.
A photographer AFP Those at the scene reported that the gunman who masterminded the shooting was dead and his body was still at the location.
Israeli police revealed that the perpetrator had been “neutralized” by a civilian at the scene.
“We have increased vigilance at the national level,” Israeli Police Chief Kobi Shabtai told reporters at the location, without providing detailed information about the shooter.
