“Travis Kelce Donates $100,000 to Family of Girls Shot at Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade”

Travis Kelce, the star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has made a generous donation of $100,000 to the family of two young girls who were shot at the team’s Super Bowl victory parade. The girls, aged 10 and 8, are currently in the hospital recovering from their injuries. Kelce made the donation through his charity, Eighty-Seven & Running, which focuses on helping youth facing adversity.

The Reyes family, who are the parents of the injured girls, expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support they have received. In a statement, they said, “We are incredibly grateful for the love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. Our family, along with the other families impacted by this senseless act, are still healing physically and emotionally.”

The girls were celebrating with their family when they were tragically injured. Both underwent surgery and are now in casts for several months. They will require follow-up doctor’s visits for the next few years and are currently undergoing physical therapy to regain their strength and mobility.

In addition to Kelce’s donation, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, also visited the girls in the hospital. This gesture of support from their favorite football players surely brought some much-needed joy to their recovery process.

Not only did Kelce make a significant contribution, but his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, also donated $100,000 to a separate GoFundMe page that is raising money for Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who tragically lost her life in the shooting. Lopez-Galvan was the cousin of the wounded girls’ mother. Swift expressed her condolences and wrote, “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss.”

Kelce took to social media to express his sorrow over the incident. He posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me.”

The donation made by Kelce singlehandedly matched the GoFundMe’s goal of $100,000, and over $73,000 has been donated by more than 1,000 others. The overwhelming support from the community demonstrates the unity and compassion that exists in Kansas City.

It is important to note that two minors have been charged with gun-related offenses in connection with the shooting. However, the focus remains on the recovery of the injured children. As of Wednesday night, it was reported that all 11 children who were wounded, including the two girls, were expected to recover.

This tragic event has brought the community together in support of the affected families. The generosity of Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift, and countless others who have donated to the GoFundMe pages is a testament to the resilience and compassion of Kansas City. As the healing process continues, it is crucial that we keep these families in our thoughts and prayers.
