On Friday 16 February, accompanied by his lawyers, a 29-year-old appeared spontaneously in front of the Carabinieri of Molfettain the province of Bari.
The man confessed to having a 23-year-old stabbed to death after an argument escalated into violence.
The murder occurred in an apartment in the center of Molfetta, near Bari
The murder would have been committed the day before the report, in man’s home.
The motive is unclear, still under investigation. A dispute between neighbors is assumed to have degenerated.

To verify what the 29-year-old declared, the company’s carabinieri and colleagues from the Scientific Investigations section (SIS) of the Bari Provincial Command went to the house in via Immacolata.

The victim is Dario De Gennaro23 years old, from Molfetta, whose family members had reported last Thursday evening.
According to what has been reconstructed so far from the investigations, coordinated by the Trani Prosecutor’s Office, and based on the 29-year-old’s confession, De Gennaro, at the height of a heated discussion, would have been hit several times with a knife.
The carabinieri and SIS agents carried out the first investigations in the apartment where the crime occurred and the first medical-legal investigations on the victim’s body.
His family had reported him missing
Dario De Gennaro had left home around 3.30pm on February 15thwithout notifying the family.
After numerous calls and countless unanswered messages, the family began to worry, until report of disappearance occurred in the evening.
Even before the formalization of the complaint, friends and family of De Gennaro had spread the news appeals and photographs on social media to find the 23-year-old whose traces had been lost.
