Gadget – Samsung is again leading the trend of foldable smartphone devices by continuing innovation in the Galaxy Z Fold series.
In an effort to continue innovating, the company has applied for the Ironflex trademark with the Korean Intellectual Property Rights Information Service.
Ironflex will be the superior technology on the Galaxy Z Fold6 which is scheduled to be launched this August.
Reporting from Galaxy Club, Ironflex is associated with foldable OLED display panels, not only for smartphones but also tablets, laptops and smart wearable devices.
This development shows Samsung’s focus on addressing durability issues, one of the main obstacles to foldable devices.
That said, the biggest challenge remains durability, and Samsung is constantly working to improve it to be comparable to conventional devices.
South Korea also indicated that Ironflex displays may be applied to other product categories such as ‘wearable and foldable video display monitors’ and ‘foldable tablet computers’.
