Billionaire Elon Musk announced on Wednesday night (02/14/2024) that SpaceX transferred the company’s registration to Texas, after a judge in Delaware, where the space firm is currently registered, annulled the agreement by which The businessman received more than 55,000 million dollars.
«SpaceX has moved its state of incorporation from Delaware to Texas! If your company is still incorporated in Delaware, I recommend moving to another state as soon as possible,” wrote the company’s CEO on the X social network.
The announcement comes a little more than two weeks after Delaware Judge Kathaleen McCormick annulled the agreement in which Musk received tens of millions of shares of the car manufacturer Tesla at a bargain price, considering that the process had not been fair.
Shortly after that ruling, the company’s CEO asked his X followers whether he should transfer Tesla’s registration to Texas, of which he is also the CEO.
87.1% of voters, 1.1 million users according to X figures, approved the proposal, to which the businessman responded: «The public vote is resoundingly favorable to Texas. “Tesla will immediately call a vote of its shareholders to transfer the registration to Texas,” he said.
The transfer to Texas, where the company has its physical headquarters, will bring personal benefits for Musk, who currently controls 13% of the company’s voting shares but has expressed his intention to obtain in the short term up to 25%.
Last week, Neuralink, Musk’s brain chip implant company, also changed its incorporation registration from Delaware to Nevada.
